Entry-Level Positions

The Aberdeen Fire Department utilizes National Testing Network for testing for entry-level positions.  When the department has the need to create a new eligibility list, it will use a list of the top scoring candidates that meet the minimum qualifications as provided by National Testing Network.  Top scoring candidates will be invited to participate in an oral board interview process conducted by the Aberdeen Fire Department.

Lateral Positions

The City of Aberdeen has an open continuous recruitment for Lateral Firefighter/EMT and Lateral Firefighter/Paramedic.  Lateral applicants are those who have current experience as a career firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic.  When the department has the need to establish a new lateral eligibility list, qualified candidates will be invited to participate in an oral board interview process conducted by the Aberdeen Fire Department.

The City of Aberdeen accepts applications for lateral positions on a continuous basis.  When the need for a lateral list arises, qualified applicants will be contacted to participate in the testing process. 

Volunteer Firefighting

The Aberdeen Fire Department does not utilize volunteer firefighters.  If you are a resident of the City of Aberdeen and are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter, many of our surrounding departments may be able to help.  Contact them directly for more information about their programs.
