Emergency Medical Services
Aberdeen Fire Department employees are trained and certified at either the Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Level. The Department is dedicated in providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) level Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Aberdeen and surrounding areas. These areas include:
- City of Cosmopolis
- Grays Harbor Fire District 10 - Wishkah
- Grays Harbor Fire District 15 - Artic
- Stafford Creek Correctional Center

Rates effective August 1, 2024
CITY OF ABERDEEN EMS UTILITY
As authorized by RCW 35.21.766, the City of Aberdeen operates an EMS Utility. Utility rates are determined by a required cost of service study and approved by the City Council in the form of a resolution. Effective January 1, 2026, the monthly service fee authorized by AMC 13.80.090 shall be $67.54 for each non-exempt utility user classification. The monthly service fee reflects only the availability component of the rate study adopted by the city council.
- Effective January 1, 2027, the monthly service fee shall be $69.56.
- Effective January 1, 2028, the monthly service fee shall be $71.65.
The City's EMS utility rate was repealed by resolution on January 14, 2026 due to changes identified in RCW. RCW calls for a separate public hearing when general fund obligations to an EMS utility decreases. The EMS utility rate will be considered for approval in the following manner:
- January 28, 2026: Request that the City Council set a date for a public hearing concerning the EMS Utility rates for March 11, 2026.
- February 5, 2026: Notice of a Public Hearing concerning EMS rates to be included in the monthly utility bill.
- March 11, 2026: Public Hearing on EMS utility rates to be held as part of the City Council's regularly scheduled meeting. This public hearining will include information pertaining to:
- The City's most recent EMS cost of service study.
- A summary of the EMS utility's current revenue sources.
- Budget reflecting the reduced allocation of general fund monies.
- Proposed changes to the City's EMS utility rates.
- Effects on the EMS utility's service level.

MEDICAID ELIGIBLE IN-HOME CARE EXEMPTION
Medicaid Eligible In-Home Care Exemption provides an Emergency Medical Services Utility rate exemption for Medicaid-eligible utility customers who receive in-home care services.

CPR/FIRST AID COURSES
The Aberdeen Fire Department does not offer public CPR/First Aid training classes. Contact the Grays Harbor Emergency Medical Services & Trauma Care Council at 360-532-2067 for information on their classes.
