What It Is

The Aberdeen Building Code (AMC 15.08) provides the minimum requirements for the design and construction of new buildings, existing buildings, new residential and remodel of existing residential homes.

International Building Code

Aberdeen has adopted the 2018 Edition of the International Building Code (IBC), by Chapter 51-50 WAC, excluding Chapters 13, 27, 28, and 29 of the IBC which are not adopted, and including Appendices E and J.

Aberdeen has adopted the 2018 Edition of the International Building Code (IRC), by Chapter 51-51 WAC, and the IRC Appendices B,C,F, and G.

1. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 1, is amended to read as follows: One-story detached accessory structures used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses, and similar uses, providing the floor area does not exceed 128 square feet (11.89 square meters);

2. Section R105.2 of Chapter 1, exemption from permits item 10 (decks under two hundred (200) square feet and thirty (30) inches above grade), is excluded and not adopted;

3. Section R105.3.1.1 of Chapter 1 is excluded and not adopted;

4. Chapter 11 and Chapters 25 through 42 are excluded and not adopted.
