Salary Range: (Range 16) $3,826 – 4,648 per month

Position Summary:

The Water Customer Service Representative provides assistance and information to the public regarding water service and related policies; resolves delinquent water accounts; performs all functions related to meters and services; and helps coordinate day-to-day water and Finance Department activities.
Verifies and rechecks water meter readings for accuracy at multiple locations; which may include climbing into meter vaults, unimproved alleys, and climbing or walking long distances. Assists with notifying customers of abnormal meter readings, checks for possible water leakage and provides general assistance and resolutions due to high consumption problems.
Repairs minor water mechanical problems such as leaks and meter change-outs. Replaces meter chambers, meter registers, repairs, adjusts or relocates water meter boxes and radio meter reading equipment and may assist in major meter repairs.

Desirable Qualifications:

Basic understanding of water works, its applications, and its uses and the geographical layout of the City. Ability to read maps accurately and perform fundamental arithmetic pertaining to the city water rate structure and basic water works applications.
Operate computers and office equipment accurately and proficiently. Software may include: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, internal Finance tool and meter reading software.

Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers. Possess the ability to maintain composure and resolve intense situations in a professional manner.
