Salary Range: Maintenance Worker II (15): $3,642-4,432
Maintenance Worker III (17): $4,007-4,877

Position Summary:

The Maintenance Worker II functions as Public Works operator with department or multi-department job skills. Depending on department functions, the position may respond to main breaks, snow, flood, ice, breakdowns, or other emergencies; works independently or as part of a crew; and operates a wide variety of Public Works heavy and light equipment, tools, and computers.

The Maintenance Worker III functions as journey-level Public Works operator with good public works maintenance and construction experience. Depending on department functions, the position may serve as the senior person in charge of jobs; responds to main breaks, snow, flood, ice, break downs or other emergencies; works independently or as a member of a crew; operates computerized data systems and networks and performs carpentry, plumbing, masonry, welding or weekend watch.

Requirements:

Class A CDL is required for the Maintenance Worker III position.

Maintenance Worker II: High school graduation or GED; two years of experience in street, wastewater, or water maintenance functions, valid driver’s license, flagging and first aid cards may be required.

Maintenance Worker III: High school graduation or GED with continuing education workshops, classes and study courses equivalent to a four-year apprenticeship; four years of experience comparable to a Maintenance Worker II in public works to include work with automated and computerized systems and comparable facilities and equipment, valid driver’s license free from serious or frequent violations, flagging and first aid cards may be required, Class A CDL required and other specialty license and certifications may be required.
